1st Phase For Ultimate Fat Loss Challenge
we’re willing to bet that a good few of our readers wake up Every day and, even before they take a pre workout supplement and head out for the year’s first gym session, vow that this will be the year they finally get in cover model shape. but when that remarkable six-pack hasn't taken shape by April Fool’s Day, it’s all too easy to think, ‘Ah, I don’t have enough time left this year. Maybe next year…’ Well, think again. All you need is 12 weeks and some dedication. Joe Warner followed a 12 week training program, under the guidance of Ultimate Performance founder Nick Mitchell, that resulted in him burning fat while building 10kg of muscle to transform his physique to such an extent that he was promoted from behind his desk to the cover of the September issue of the magazine. This Post also featured an account of his
experiences during the three-month challenge.
First phase
This workout is the first two-week strength training phase of the program Joe followed. ‘Despite this being a strength-oriented workout phase, it’s still done at a relatively intense pace to elicit the right hormonal and metabolic response to not only add muscle, but burn
fat too,’ explains Mitchell. ‘So sticking to the tempo and rest periods is vital to success.’
The other thing vital to cover model success is a spray than, but we’ll let you off that – unless you’re really keen.

Building A Brand New Body Workout
The bad news is that building a better body doesn’t happen overnight. The good news is that a well-structured training programme can get you the body you have always wanted quickly – in just 12 weeks, in fact. But it requires a workout regime that constantly tests your muscles so they have the consistent stimulus they need to continue growing bigger and stronger, while your body burns up excess fat stores as fuel. The result is a bigger, stronger and leaner physique. This 12 week training programme starts with a four-week strength-building phase, set out here, with heavy weights and low reps to fire up your muscles and central nervous system. The strength phase comes first because it is important that you build a solid base and prepare your muscles and central nervous system for the intensive muscle-building phase, available in the March issue of this magazine. Then the third and final fat-burning phase – in the April issue – will put the finishing touches to your brand new body.

HOW TO DO THIS MONTH’S WORKOUTS
After a thorough warm-up, complete all the sets of exercise 1 – sticking to the reps, rest and tempos detailed then move on to exercise 2 and so on. Use a weight for each move that allows you to complete all reps but no more. The four figures for the tempo guide refer to time in seconds taken to lower, pause, lift and pause again. An X means the phase is to be done explosively.
